Wednesday night belonged to Nathan Eovaldi. Thursday afternoon belonged to the Bronx.
The Yankees answered back in the rubber game. New York put up nine runs against Texas and walked away with a 9-2 win and the series — 2-1. MacKenzie Gore lasted just long enough to watch the lineup do what it does, and Paul Blackburn gave the Yankees exactly what they needed on the mound.
One bad night. One clean bounce back. That’s what good teams do.
The Rangers got home runs from Corey Seager and Evan Carter on Wednesday and made it look easy. Eovaldi was sharp, the Yankees offense went quiet, and Texas walked out with one. But there’s a difference between winning a night and winning a series. This Yankees team knows the difference.
Nine runs in the rubber game says everything about where this offense is right now. The lineup is deep, it doesn’t stay cold for long, and when it gets going early, opposing pitchers don’t last. Gore couldn’t handle it. The Bronx made him pay.
The Yankees take the series 2-1 and keep adding to what’s already been a dominant stretch of baseball in 2026. This is a team built for the long haul — and May is showing exactly why.
