One out of two isn’t zero.
The New York Mets split Sunday’s doubleheader with the Colorado Rockies at Citi Field — winning one game and dropping the other in what was ultimately a mixed afternoon in Queens. After losing Friday night this wasn’t the full statement bounce-back the Mets needed but it beats going 0-for-2 on the day.

The split keeps the series close but the bigger concern is that the Rockies — one of the worst teams in the National League — have taken more than their share from the Mets in this series. That’s a pattern that needs to stop before it becomes a habit.
The good news is the schedule moves on quickly. Washington Nationals come to Citi Field this week and the Mets have a chance to find their rhythm against a beatable opponent. The NL East race is long and one so-so series against Colorado in April doesn’t define a season.
