Astros Avoid the Sweep. Yankees Still Win the Series and Leave Houston 2-1.

The sweep wasn’t meant to be tonight but the bigger picture is still very good for New York.

The Yankees drop Game 3 in Houston but leave Minute Maid Park with the series win at 2-1. Across this road trip the Bronx outscored the Astros 20 runs to 7 in the first two games — that kind of dominance doesn’t disappear because of one loss in a series finale.

Give Houston credit — they came out with better pitching today, their lineup found some life, and they played the kind of baseball that keeps a team out of a sweep. That’s what competitive organizations do. The Astros are not a bad team and they showed why today.

For the Yankees the important thing is what comes next. The road trip continues and the Bronx needs to carry the momentum from the first two games into a new series. Today was a blip. The bigger run is what matters.

Yankees head to Texas next. The road doesn’t stop. Neither does the Bronx. 🔒
